Guadalmina Baja

Guadalmina baja is separated from the commercial zone of Guadalmina Alta by the highway A7, and of the municipality of Estepona by the River Guadalmina.

In its origins, Guadalmina Baja was a sugar cane plantation, until Norberto Goizueta recognized the tourist potential of the area, and developed not only the golf course, but also the Guadalmina hotel, in the late 50’s and early 60, which still retains its prestige due to its proximity to the beach and its beautiful view to the golf courses that surround it.

The airs around the hotel were parceled out for the construction of luxury villas, demanded largely by the locals who came to Marbella in search of tranquility, privacy and proximity to both the sea and shopping areas. Some aras, like Roman vaults of Century 3, have been protected of the urban development, to preserve and to assure a unique environment apt for the citizen’s enjoyment.

Guadalmina Baja has its own church, the Chapel of the Immaculate, which houses international students from different institutions, such as the Spanish College, San Jose, etc.
